RNA

Stands for ribonucleic acid.  Found in the nucleus as well as the cytoplasm of cells. It is similar to DNA in structure except that DNA is based on the sugar deoxyribose and RNA is based on the sugar ribose. RNA is usually single stranded as compared to DNA, which is double stranded. RNA plays an important role in protein synthesis and other chemical activities of the cell.
