Insight has a special function, however, which allows for self-knowing and monitoring of behaviour. Loss of insight can be very distressing for caregivers, and is especially frustrating when a person no longer realizes why they cannot be entrusted with chores (such as caring for grandchildren) that they previously did, enjoyed, and took pride in. Coupled with repetitive questioning, it is especially stressful.
