Balance | Stage

Balance problems are usually a late sign of Alzheimer's disease . They are seen earlier in patients who have dementia with Lewy bodies , dementia in relation to Parkinson's disease , Parkinson-like disorders (such as multiple system atrophy or corticobasal degeneration ), and with some of types of dementia seen in relationship to stroke

Blood supply to the brain is interrupted, usually by a blood clot. As a result, a portion of the brain can die from not receiving enough blood and oxygen.

. Falls can occur in older people as a so-called 'atypical disease presentation' (of which another one is sudden confusion, known as delirium.)
