Doctor's DiaryHow much I do and how much do I let them do? One of the dilemmas that caregivers often face is to know how much to do for the person they care for, and how much to let them manage for themselves. There is no one answer that works all the time and your convenience is often as good a guide as any. Sometimes caregivers worry about doing too much and they often worry about not doing enough. These times when you wind up having to do a simple task for someone else can be very sad, especially when the person you care for also recognizes that they used to be able to easily do what they are relying on you to do now. It's okay to say "I know this is sad." Sometimes that can be coupled with another statement that can really help, such as "I'm just glad I'm here to help you."
