Financial Management | What's Happening in the Brain

Financial management reflects a very large number of high order (sophisticated) brain processes, including judgment, anticipation of the future, calculations, language and the ability to understand abstract concepts. Therefore, it is no surprise that it is affected early in dementia. It can be affected even earlier than when memory is clearly impaired. Financial management is an aspect of judgment and decision making, so the same considerations about brain function apply here too.
