Travel and Vacationing | Doctor's Diary

The many challenges posed by travel (change of routine, change of environment, being herded about on buses or airplanes) often can reveal symptoms that are surprising to families. I have seen people whose first clear sign of dementia occurred when they traveled, and, for example, could not exchange foreign currency or make change in foreign currency, could not find their way from the pool back to the hotel, were uncharacteristically rude with waitresses, or very reluctant to leave their rooms.
